Instead of bouncing back, into complacency, feeling powerless to do anything about the big challenges, a big bounce forward could be made tackling them, proactively.
How does a big bounce forward happen?
Taking action on an individual and a group level will change all our future.
What actions? Follow the series, and you will hear some ideas, socially, economically, politically and most important, healthily.
Each post will provide 3 Take-aways, to help your bubble, face the bigger bubble's challenges.
Tough challenges broken down into actions that everyone is able to do.
The takeaways, come from a combination of facts, and research, a multitude of opinions from across the world, and theories, with suggested actions.
Here is the first post, of the big bounce forward, series.
Global leadership playing catch-up. Why? Lack of diversity.
Fact: Asia is home to three of the world's top four economic powers(in purchasing terms) China, India & Japan. Then there is Russia. Combined GDP exceeds that of the EU, and US together, yet poorly represented in the Western world's security council/leadership forums. The global leadership community, needed to adapt. Quickly. Yesterday.
Why is this so important?
Inequality is rife, and is the biggest contributor to crime, and low quality of life. Economically, globalisation has not delivered.
Nationalism, protectionism, were on the rise then, and looks like it is set to remain that way, for some time.
2018 was a historic turning point. It is a pattern recurring in multiple jurisdictions globally. Demagogues, like Trump rose to power, with disastrous consequences, and even now, continue to do so. Even now, leaders with that completely emotional approach, continues to wreak havoc, playing on people's fears.
Global conflicts may happen as a result of multiple crises impacting the world, as a result of climate change, and crime / conflicts will increase, caused by inequality. These conflicts will be exacerbated, by people like Trump.
After spending decades tearing down walls, Trump started to build them back up again, due to globalisation failing and inequality causing frustration and fear.
Failing globalisation is not due to diversity, or differences in people.
Failing globalisation is everything to do with unsustainable growth policies, and mis-management and greed, never mind the consequences. The consequences is the well-being of the next generation, and the bigger bubble.
Diverse global leadership is essential, for making sure that the challenges ahead can be tackled.
Selection of a Diverse leadership is counter-intuitive to human nature. Humans feel safe, in their own tribe, they like following people who are similar to themselves.
Overcoming this irrational, but innate bias, will take courage. Differences make a stronger team, and for increased performance, evidence shows.
Representation for a diverse populous, in leadership is essential and will aid the battle against inequality, proactively on a global scale, and will aid the revised economic policies, that are much needed.
What needs to be done urgently?
A wider, more, diverse global leadership community.
What format does that take? A security council? Is the UN delivering?
Crisis management for triple disasters in developing countries cannot be executed by people who don't understand the nature of the troubles people face on the ground, socially and economically. "It's not happening in my area, approach won't work." Bush fires, floods, locusts, food shortages, cannot be sustained.
Rebuilding the political centre needs to take place, Security council European / USA is Non-inclusive, and this will cause multiple governance systems, causing regulation to be impossible, in the digital & physical terrain. The sooner the political centre rebuilds, the better.Rebuilding the political centre in each jurisdiction, will need to take place, involving intervening upstream to reduce the sources of inequality.
Europe has some hard choices to make. the re-emergence of nationalism, inequality, has created a "togetherness in less developed countries of poverty and misery, which is apparent in the "us versus them" sentiment.
What needs to be done in longer term: Collaboration starts with being inclusive, and diverse leadership. Then spread through to grass roots?
3 Take-aways: What can i do to help, in my bubble?
- As individuals in charge of your own bubble, ask questions of your MP, your local leaders, including leaders in your workplace. How inclusive are they? How well is the population represented in your local area. It is in your interest, as inequality in your area, is a contributor to crime.
- If you vote, or take part in any form of selection process, then vote with diversity in mind, not as the only factor, but as a stronger, more performant, way forward.
- If you are any type of leader, local football team captain, to MP, are you being inclusive in your outlook, and actions? Are you economically diverse? Is all your money being spent with one or two suppliers for the sake of convenience? Ask the questions, how can I get the best deal, and make the community, the supply chain more resilient, providing equality to a diverse population, from supermarkets to warehouses.
To re-centre the big bubble's leadership, asking questions of your own, leaders, providing opportunities for a diverse leadership team, at all scales will lead to Stronger and more performance, socially and economically across the bigger bubble.
A big bounce-back, or a big bounce forward?
